In Elden Ring, Renna gives the player the Spirit Calling Bell.
The encounter occurs at the Church of Elleh after the player has received Torrent and gained the ability to summon the spectral steed. Renna appears at night and gives both the Spirit Calling Bell and the Lone Wolf Ashes, introducing the game’s spirit-summoning system.
Renna is later revealed to be Ranni in disguise. If the player misses the nighttime meeting, the Spirit Calling Bell can be purchased from the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold, so the item is not permanently missable. Melina enables the player’s early journey and provides Torrent, while Roderika becomes important for spirit tuning, but neither is the character who originally hands over the bell.
