In Elden Ring, Leyndell is the capital city in the Lands Between.
Leyndell, Royal Capital, is a vast fortified city at the foot of the Erdtree. Its golden architecture reflects the power of the Golden Order, and its walls, avenues, sewers, and inner sanctum form one of the game’s largest legacy-dungeon areas. The city becomes a major story destination after the player advances through the central regions.
Leyndell contains important encounters with Morgott, the Omen King, and with a spectral version of Godfrey, the First Elden Lord. Its central avenue leads toward the Erdtree, but the player cannot simply enter the tree after reaching the city; further story progress is required.
The name is sometimes confused with the Altus Plateau, the larger region surrounding the capital, or with Stormveil Castle, another major stronghold. Leyndell also changes after key events, becoming the Ashen Capital while retaining its role as the seat of the Elden Lord’s final approach.
