In Dark Souls, the Lordvessel allows the player to warp between certain bonfires.
The player receives the Lordvessel from Gwynevere, Princess of Sunlight, after defeating Dragon Slayer Ornstein and Executioner Smough in Anor Londo. It is then placed on the altar at Firelink Chamber, either with Kingseeker Frampt or Darkstalker Kaathe.
The Lordvessel is important because it opens the route toward the game’s four major Lord Souls. It also unlocks fast travel between selected bonfires, greatly reducing the need to cross Lordran repeatedly. However, it does not allow travel to every bonfire, and the player cannot warp freely from one bonfire to any other.
The Lordvessel is sometimes confused with the Rite of Kindling, which increases Estus Flask capacity at bonfires, or with the Homeward Bone, a consumable item that returns the player to the last bonfire. Those items provide different forms of travel or bonfire utility.
