In 28 Days Later, which actor plays Jim, the bicycle courier who wakes from a coma?

Cillian Murphy plays Jim, the bicycle courier who wakes from a coma, in 28 Days Later.

Directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland, the 2002 British film begins with Jim awakening in an apparently deserted London hospital. He gradually discovers that a rage-inducing infection has devastated much of the United Kingdom.

Murphy’s performance follows Jim from confusion and vulnerability toward determination and moral courage. The role helped make the actor internationally prominent and became one of the defining performances of the modern infected-survivor genre.

The film is sometimes called a zombie movie, although its antagonists are living humans infected by the fictional Rage virus. They move rapidly, unlike the slow undead commonly associated with earlier zombie cinema.
