How many Rugrats theatrical movies were released?

The story behind the answer

Three Rugrats theatrical movies were released: The Rugrats Movie, Rugrats in Paris: The Movie, and Rugrats Go Wild. They arrived in 1998, 2000, and 2003, respectively.

The Rugrats Movie introduced Dil Pickles and sent Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, and the other babies into the wilderness after they took the Reptar Wagon. Rugrats in Paris shifted the setting to France and centered on Chuckie’s wish for a new mother, introducing characters including Kimi, Kira, and Coco LaBouche.

The third film, Rugrats Go Wild, was a crossover with The Wild Thornberrys. It stranded the Rugrats and the Thornberry family on an island and brought together two popular Klasky Csupo animated franchises. The film also featured Bruce Willis providing the voice of Spike.

The three films are sometimes confused with television specials, direct-to-video releases, or the later live-action/CGI project announced for development. Those projects do not change the count of the completed original theatrical Rugrats films, which form a trilogy released between 1998 and 2003.
