Italy scored 226 points in the placing table at the 2026 European Athletics Championships.
The placing table awarded points to the top eight finishers in each event, with eight points for first place, seven for second and so on down to one point for eighth. Italy’s results produced the highest total, 226 points.
This is a different classification from the medal table. Italy led both standings, but the placing table rewards depth: a country can score heavily through many finalists even without winning medals. Great Britain and Northern Ireland followed Italy with 213 points, while Germany scored 196.
The placing table therefore offers a broader measure of team performance than medals alone. It includes top-eight finishes across the full Birmingham 2026 programme, not just podium results.
