One Quidditch team has seven players in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books.
A team consists of three Chasers, two Beaters, one Keeper, and one Seeker. The Chasers try to throw the Quaffle through one of the opposing team’s three hoops, while Beaters use bats to redirect Bludgers. The Keeper defends the hoops, and the Seeker pursues the Golden Snitch.
The Seeker’s role often causes confusion about team size because catching the Snitch usually ends the match and awards 150 points. That dramatic scoring rule makes the Seeker appear more important than the other positions, but the team still has six additional players on the pitch.
Quidditch was invented as a fictional sport for the Harry Potter series. It later inspired real-world games, including Muggle Quidditch, whose rules and team structures have changed over time. The seven-player answer refers specifically to the magical sport described in Rowling’s novels.
