How many miles is the race across America in Need for Speed: The Run?

The story behind the answer

The race across America in Need for Speed: The Run is 3,000 miles long.

The Run builds its campaign around an illegal, high-stakes race from San Francisco to New York City. That coast-to-coast route is presented as roughly 3,000 miles, giving the game its title and its unusually broad geographic scope. Instead of taking place in one fictional city, the campaign moves through deserts, mountain roads, rural highways, and major urban areas across the United States.

Players control Jack Rourke, a street racer trying to escape the Mob and claim a share of the race’s $25 million prize. The journey is divided into stages, so the game does not simulate every mile continuously; it condenses the trip into cinematic racing sequences. The Run was also notable for using Frostbite 2 and for including action scenes in which Jack exits his car, an unusual feature for the series. It was released in 2011 by EA Black Box.
