Eight Harry Potter films were made from J.K. Rowling’s seven main novels.
Warner Bros. adapted the first six books into one film each. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final novel, was divided into Part 1 and Part 2, producing an eight-film series.
The first movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, was released in 2001. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 followed in 2011, completing the story on screen.
The number eight refers to the original Harry Potter film series only. It does not include the later Fantastic Beasts films, which are set in the same wizarding world but are not adaptations of the seven Harry Potter novels.
