Pixar’s Cars on the Road contains nine episodes.
The 2022 Disney+ series follows Lightning McQueen and Mater on a road trip across the United States. Each short episode places them in a different genre-inspired situation, including dinosaur encounters, haunted locations, monster trucks, and a circus.
The series was created by Steve Purcell and produced by Pixar Animation Studios. It expands the Cars world beyond feature-length stories while keeping the friendship between Lightning and Mater at its center. Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy returned to voice the two main characters in English.
Cars on the Road is a series of short animated episodes rather than a theatrical feature. It is therefore distinct from Cars, Cars 2, and Cars 3, which are feature films. The show premiered on Disney+ on September 8, 2022, as part of Disney+ Day.
