Deer Cave in Sarawak is a show cave in which Malaysian national park?

The story behind the answer

Deer Cave in Sarawak is a show cave in Gunung Mulu National Park.

The cave lies near Miri in the Malaysian state of Sarawak, on the island of Borneo. It is one of several major caves protected within Gunung Mulu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its limestone pinnacles, rainforest, and enormous underground passages.

Deer Cave is also known as Gua Rusa or Gua Payau. Its name is linked to local observations that deer visit the cave to shelter and lick salt-bearing rocks. The cave became a public attraction in the 1980s, and visitors reach it by following a roughly 3-kilometre walkway through lowland rainforest.

A common mix-up is with Kinabalu Park, Malaysia’s best-known mountain park, which is on Sabah’s Mount Kinabalu and is not home to Deer Cave. Gunung Mulu is instead in Sarawak and includes Deer Cave, Lang Cave, Wind Cave, and Clearwater Cave. Deer Cave was once described as having the world’s largest cave passage before Sơn Đoòng Cave was recognized in Vietnam.
