At which factory was the Chevrolet SSR assembled?

The story behind the answer

The Chevrolet SSR was assembled at GM’s Lansing Craft Centre.

The SSR was a retro-styled roadster pickup produced by Chevrolet from 2003 through 2006. General Motors built it at the Lansing Craft Centre in Michigan, a facility suited to lower-volume specialty vehicles and unusual body constructions.

SSR stood for Super Sport Roadster. The vehicle combined a retractable hardtop with an open cargo bed, giving it a distinctive mix of sports car and pickup characteristics. Its styling drew heavily on Chevrolet trucks from the late 1940s and early 1950s.

The Lansing Craft Centre was different from Chevrolet’s large-volume truck plants. The SSR’s limited production, complex retractable roof and specialized bodywork made a craft-oriented facility appropriate. The model ended after the 2006 model year and was never replaced by a direct successor.
