At which 1936 Winter Olympics was the Olympic torch relay first used?

The story behind the answer

The Olympic torch relay was first used at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.

The relay carried a flame from Olympia in Greece to the Winter Games venue in Bavaria. Although the relay is associated with ancient Greek imagery, the modern Olympic torch relay was a 20th-century creation rather than an uninterrupted ancient tradition.

The 1936 Winter Olympics opened on 6 February and closed on 16 February. Competitors from 28 nations took part, and the program included alpine skiing, bobsleigh, figure skating, ice hockey, Nordic skiing, speed skating, and military patrol.

The 1936 Games are also remembered for the political use of Olympic symbolism by Nazi Germany. The torch relay later became a regular feature of both Summer and Winter Olympics, but its first Olympic appearance was at these Games.
