#YoSoy132 opposed which PRI candidate in Mexico's 2012 election?

The story behind the answer

#YoSoy132 opposed Enrique Peña Nieto, the PRI-backed candidate in Mexico’s 2012 presidential election. The movement emerged after a contentious appearance by Peña Nieto at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City on 11 May 2012.

Students challenged him over his record as governor of the State of Mexico, particularly the government’s handling of the 2006 San Salvador Atenco disturbances. After the event, 131 students posted a video identifying themselves and rejecting claims that they were outside agitators or members of rival political groups.

Supporters responded online with the phrase “Yo Soy 132,” meaning “I am number 132,” as people symbolically joined the 131 students. The movement demanded media democratisation, greater electoral transparency and a third presidential debate, while presenting itself as student-led and formally non-partisan.

Andrés Manuel López Obrador was another 2012 presidential candidate, but he was not the PRI candidate targeted by the movement. Peña Nieto won the election and later became president, while #YoSoy132 continued protesting perceived media bias and electoral irregularities.
