Who wrote Fleetwood Mac's 1987 song 'Everywhere'?

The story behind the answer

Christine McVie wrote Fleetwood Mac’s 1987 song “Everywhere.”

McVie also sang lead and backing vocals and played keyboards on the recording. The song appeared on Tango in the Night, Fleetwood Mac’s 14th studio album, and became one of its defining pop singles. Lindsey Buckingham and Richard Dashut produced the track, helping shape its polished, layered sound.

“Everywhere” was released in the United States on November 13, 1987, and later reached number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100. In the United Kingdom, it peaked at number four after its 1988 release. Its bright, romantic tone can make it easy to associate with Buckingham or Stevie Nicks, but neither wrote it; Nicks contributed backing vocals, while Buckingham handled production and several instruments.

The song’s distinctive introduction was built from slowed-down guitar parts that were recorded and then played back at normal speed. That studio trick contributed to the shimmering texture heard before McVie’s vocal enters.
