Who won the first PDC Premier League Darts season in 2005?

The story behind the answer

Phil Taylor won the first PDC Premier League Darts season in 2005.

The inaugural Premier League featured seven players and was staged across a sequence of regular-season venues before a play-off. Taylor defeated Colin Lloyd in the final at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet, England.

The competition was created by the Professional Darts Corporation as a major league-style event, with players earning points during the regular season. Taylor’s success established him as the tournament’s first champion and added another major title to his already extensive career record.

The Premier League is sometimes confused with the PDC World Championship because both are prominent PDC events. They differ in format: the World Championship is a knockout tournament, while the Premier League traditionally combines league fixtures with a final play-off stage.
