What is the bullseye worth in standard steel-tip darts?

The story behind the answer

The bullseye is worth 50 points in standard steel-tip darts.

The centre of a standard dartboard is divided into two scoring areas. The inner bull, or bullseye, is worth 50 points, while the surrounding outer bull is worth 25 points. In common competition rules, the inner bull can also count as a double when a player needs to finish on a double.

This scoring value is different from the segment numbers around the board. A single segment scores its printed number, the narrow treble ring scores three times that number, and the narrow double ring scores twice that number. The highest score with one dart is therefore 60, from treble 20, not the bullseye.

Rules can vary for particular games, especially around whether the outer bull counts as a double. However, the 50-point value of the inner bull is the standard fact used in conventional 501 steel-tip darts.
