Who was the first woman to win the BDO World Darts Championship?

Trina Gulliver was the first woman to win the BDO World Darts Championship.

Gulliver won the inaugural women’s BDO World Professional Darts Championship in 2001. She defeated Mandy Solomons in the final at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green, Surrey.

Her victory began one of the most dominant periods in women’s darts. Gulliver went on to win the women’s BDO world title ten times, including nine consecutive championships from 2001 through 2009.

The BDO women’s championship was separate from the men’s event and from later PDC women’s competitions. Players such as Anastasia Dobromyslova, Lisa Ashton and Deta Hedman are major figures in women’s darts, but none was the first BDO women’s world champion.
