Answer
Alan Shepard
Answer
Alan Shepard
Alan Shepard was the first person to hit a golf ball on the Moon.
During Apollo 14’s lunar surface activities in February 1971, commander Alan Shepard used a modified tool to strike two golf balls. He made the informal demonstration near the lunar module Antares after completing the mission’s scientific and exploration tasks.
Shepard joked that one ball traveled “miles and miles,” although the Moon’s low gravity and his restricted spacesuit made the swings difficult. The stunt was not an official scientific experiment, but it became one of the most recognizable moments of the Apollo missions.
The golf balls were left on the Moon, along with equipment and other mission hardware. Shepard had previously become the first American in space during the 1961 Freedom 7 flight.
