Who was the creative director of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy?

The story behind the answer

Shaun Escayg was the creative director of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

Escayg led the creative direction alongside game director Kurt Margenau as Naughty Dog developed the 2017 standalone expansion. He also co-wrote the story with Josh Scherr, helping shape Chloe Frazer's first leading role and her partnership with Nadine Ross.

The Lost Legacy began as downloadable content for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End but grew into a substantial standalone adventure set in India's Western Ghats. Escayg's responsibilities included guiding the narrative structure, character development, and the game's shift toward larger, more open-ended environments. He was chosen for his understanding of narrative structure and his experience with the Uncharted team.

A common mix-up is to credit Amy Hennig, Bruce Straley, or Neil Druckmann. Those creators were important to other Uncharted or Naughty Dog projects, but Escayg held the creative-director role on The Lost Legacy.
