Who was runner-up to Djokovic in the 2018 Wimbledon gentlemen's singles final?
Answer
Kevin Anderson
Answer
Kevin Anderson
Kevin Anderson was runner-up to Novak Djokovic in the 2018 Wimbledon gentlemen's singles final.
Djokovic won the Centre Court final on 15 July 2018, defeating Anderson 6–2, 6–2, 7–6 (7–3). The straight-sets victory secured Djokovic's fourth Wimbledon title and his 13th major championship, ending a wait of more than a year since his previous tournament victory.
Anderson had played one of the tournament's defining matches before reaching the final. His semifinal against John Isner lasted 6 hours 36 minutes and ended 26–24 in the fifth set, making it the second-longest men's singles match in Wimbledon history at the time. That marathon left Anderson with little recovery time before facing Djokovic.
The final was also notable because Anderson had eliminated defending champion Roger Federer in the quarterfinals after trailing by two sets and facing a match point. Rafael Nadal and Isner were semifinalists, but neither was Djokovic's final opponent.
