Who was Apollo 14's lunar module pilot during its landing in the Fra Mauro region?
Answer
Edgar Mitchell
Answer
Edgar Mitchell
Edgar Mitchell was Apollo 14's lunar module pilot during its landing in the Fra Mauro region.
Mitchell descended to the Moon with commander Alan Shepard in the lunar module Antares on February 5, 1971. The astronauts conducted two lunar surface excursions and collected samples from the Fra Mauro Formation, which scientists study as material ejected by the impact that formed the Imbrium Basin.
Stuart Roosa was Apollo 14's command module pilot and orbited the Moon in Kitty Hawk. Mitchell was the sixth person to walk on the Moon. The mission is also remembered for Shepard's golf-ball experiment, but Mitchell, rather than Shepard, served as the lunar module pilot.
