Who voices Mater, Lightning McQueen's best friend, in Pixar's Cars movies?

Larry the Cable Guy voices Mater, Lightning McQueen's best friend, in Pixar's Cars movies. Mater is a rusty tow truck from Radiator Springs whose friendliness and comic confidence make him one of the franchise's most prominent characters.

Larry the Cable Guy is the stage name of Daniel Lawrence Whitney, an American comedian. His voice performance gives Mater a distinctive Southern-inflected comic style. Mater's apparent lack of sophistication is balanced by loyalty, courage, and an ability to form an immediate friendship with McQueen.

Mater appears in all three Cars feature films and is especially central to Cars 2, where he becomes involved in the international spy plot. Larry the Cable Guy also performed Mater in Cars Toons: Mater's Tall Tales, an animated short series connected to the franchise.
