Who voiced Woody in the Toy Story films?

Woody in the Toy Story films is voiced by Tom Hanks. Hanks has performed Woody's voice across the feature-film series, beginning with Toy Story in 1995 and continuing through Toy Story 4 in 2019.

Woody is a pull-string cowboy doll and Andy's longtime favorite toy. His character is the practical leader of the toy group, but his close friendship and rivalry with Buzz Lightyear drive much of the first film's story. The character's full name is Woody Pride, and his familiar voice-box phrases include “Reach for the sky!” and “There's a snake in my boot!”

A common mix-up comes from other Toy Story media: Hanks's brother, Jim Hanks, has voiced Woody in many video games, attractions, toys, and related productions. That does not change the answer for the Toy Story films, where Tom Hanks is the principal voice actor. Pixar reportedly tested Hanks's voice using footage from Turner & Hooch before casting him.
