In “Monsters University,” Mike and Sulley join the fraternity Oozma Kappa. The group, commonly shortened to OK, is one of Monsters University’s fraternities and is known for accepting students who do not fit the campus ideal of a frightening, elite scarer.
Mike joins Oozma Kappa after he and Sulley fail the first-semester scare examination and are removed from the university’s scare program. Mike needs a team for the Scare Games, so he recruits the fraternity’s members and persuades Sulley to participate. Their team includes Don Carlton, Scott “Squishy” Squibbles, Art, and the two-headed brothers Terri and Terry.
Oozma Kappa is deliberately contrasted with Roar Omega Roar, the prestigious fraternity that initially accepts Sulley but rejects Mike. The rivalry between the two groups drives much of the film’s competition. Oozma Kappa’s success comes from teamwork and individual differences rather than conventional scariness.
A common mix-up is confusing Oozma Kappa with Roar Omega Roar, Jaws Theta Chi, or Eta Theta Pi. Oozma Kappa is the misfit fraternity that becomes Mike and Sulley’s team during the Scare Games.
