In Toy Story 2, what is the name of the penguin toy who gets his squeaker fixed?

The story behind the answer

In “Toy Story 2,” the penguin toy whose squeaker gets fixed is named Wheezy.

Woody discovers Wheezy on a high shelf after Andy’s mother puts him away because his squeaker has broken. Wheezy is a small penguin squeeze toy, and his neglect becomes important to the story: when Andy’s mother prepares to sell him at a yard sale, Woody tries to rescue him. Woody is left behind during the attempt and is then stolen by toy collector Al McWhiggin.

Wheezy’s repair comes near the end of the film. During the toys’ return home, Mr. Shark provides an extra squeaker, allowing Wheezy to work normally again. In the closing sequence, he sings “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” with singing voice provided by Robert Goulet.

The character is sometimes remembered simply as the “penguin toy,” but Wheezy is his established name. His storyline also reinforces one of the film’s major themes: toys fear being forgotten, yet their emotional value comes from the relationships they build with children and with one another.
