Who scored twice for Brazil in the 2002 FIFA World Cup final?

The story behind the answer

Who scored twice for Brazil in the 2002 FIFA World Cup final? Ronaldo.

Ronaldo scored both goals as Brazil defeated Germany 2–0 in the final at the International Stadium in Yokohama, Japan, on 30 June 2002. The match was goalless at half-time, but Brazil’s striker broke the deadlock in the 67th minute.

That first goal followed a low shot from Rivaldo that goalkeeper Oliver Kahn could not hold. Ronaldo reacted quickly to the rebound and finished into the bottom corner. Twelve minutes later, he added a second goal after Kléberson’s forward run and Rivaldo’s clever dummy opened space near the penalty area.

The victory gave Brazil its record fifth World Cup title at the time and completed Ronaldo’s remarkable tournament comeback after serious knee injuries had threatened his career. He finished the competition with eight goals and won the Golden Shoe. Rivaldo, Ronaldinho and Cafu were also crucial members of the champion team, but none scored Brazil’s goals in the final.
