Joško Gvardiol scored Manchester City’s stoppage-time winner against Bournemouth in the 2026–27 Premier League opener.
Manchester City came from behind to beat Bournemouth 2–1 at the Etihad Stadium on 23 August 2026. Bournemouth took the lead through Marcus Tavernier in the 26th minute, putting City under pressure in Enzo Maresca’s first match as manager.
Marc Guéhi equalised with a header six minutes from time. Gvardiol then struck in stoppage time to complete the comeback and give City three points. Rayan Cherki assisted both City goals after coming off the bench.
The result ended Bournemouth’s 18-match unbeaten Premier League run. It was also notable because Bournemouth had never previously led at the Etihad Stadium, making their near-upset particularly significant even though City recovered.
