Which two 2026–27 Premier League opening-weekend matches share a 14:00 BST kick-off on Sunday, 23 August?
Answer
Brighton v Aston Villa and Man City v Bournemouth
Brighton & Hove Albion v Aston Villa and Manchester City v Bournemouth share the 14:00 BST kick-off on Sunday 23 August 2026. They form the opening weekend’s Sunday afternoon double-header.
Both matches are scheduled simultaneously, while Newcastle United v Liverpool follows later at 16:30 BST. Brighton host Aston Villa at Falmer Stadium, and Manchester City host Bournemouth at the City of Manchester Stadium.
A simultaneous kick-off means neither game is the sole first Sunday match; they begin together. The schedule then moves to Monday, when Fulham host Chelsea at 20:00. Listing both fixtures precisely avoids the common mistake of naming only one of the two 14:00 contests.
