Joško Gvardiol scored Manchester City’s 90th-minute winner against Bournemouth in the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
Manchester City defeated Bournemouth 2–1 at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday, 23 August 2026. Bournemouth led for much of the match, but City completed the comeback when Gvardiol scored in the 90th minute.
The goal made Gvardiol the decisive scorer in one of the weekend’s late dramas. Marcus Tavernier had put Bournemouth ahead before City turned the contest around in the closing stages.
Gvardiol is primarily known as a defender, so his winning goal was a notable attacking contribution. It was not Erling Haaland who supplied the decisive finish, despite his prominence in Manchester City’s attack. The 2–1 result gave City three points in their opening fixture.
