Anton Stach scored Leeds United’s late free-kick winner at Nottingham Forest in the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
Leeds won 1–0 at the City Ground on 22 August 2026. Stach struck directly from a free-kick in the 88th minute, giving Leeds a narrow victory in the clubs’ opening match of the season.
The result gave Leeds a second successive opening-match win. Stach’s goal also continued his notable record from outside the penalty area: it was his fifth such goal since the beginning of the previous season, more than any other player during that period.
Stach’s four direct free-kick goals were matched only by Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai over the same period. Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, continued a difficult home sequence, having won only one of their previous 12 Premier League matches at the City Ground.
