Semi Ajayi scored Hull City’s first goal in their 2–0 opening-weekend win over Manchester United.
Ajayi struck in the 17th minute at the MKM Stadium. His effort followed a shot from Oli McBurnie that Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens tipped onto the post.
Nobel Mendy scored Hull’s second goal seven minutes before half-time, heading in a free-kick from Regan Slater. Both Hull goals came before the interval, giving the promoted side an historic victory.
The result was Hull’s first top-flight win over Manchester United. It was also their first league victory against United since 1974, when both clubs were in the old Second Division.
