Who provided the voice of Alpha 5 in the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers?
Answer
Richard Steven Horvitz
Answer
Richard Steven Horvitz
Richard Steven Horvitz provided the voice of Alpha 5 in the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers television series.
Alpha 5 is Zordon's helpful robot assistant, recognizable for his catchphrase “Aye-yi-yi-yi-yi!” He operated the Command Center's technology, monitored the Rangers' missions and often supplied comic relief when the team returned from battle. Horvitz performed Alpha's voice while other performers handled the robot suit on set.
A common mix-up comes from the show's credits: Horvitz was frequently credited as Richard Wood during the early Power Rangers production. That credit name refers to the same voice actor, not a different performer. Jason Narvy and Paul Schrier played Bulk and Skull, while Robert Axelrod voiced Lord Zedd, so none of those actors supplied Alpha 5's original television voice.
Horvitz continued voicing Alpha 5 through later installments, including Power Rangers Zeo and Power Rangers Turbo. He is also widely known for voicing Billy in The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy and the title character in Invader Zim.
