Adrian Chiles presented the first two series of the BBC business show Dragons' Den before Evan Davis took over.
Chiles was the programme’s original presenter when the British version launched in 2005. His role was mainly to introduce the entrepreneurs, explain the pitch format and provide links between the investment negotiations.
Evan Davis became the regular presenter from the third series and remained closely associated with the programme for many years. This transition can cause confusion because Davis is the presenter most viewers associate with the established format.
The presenter is separate from the Dragons. Presenters do not normally invest in the businesses; they frame the programme and guide viewers through each pitch. The show itself was adapted from the Japanese format Money Tigers.
