What is the name of the BBC's international version of Dragon's Den made for the United States?

The story behind the answer

The BBC's international counterpart made for the United States is Shark Tank.

Shark Tank is the American adaptation of the entrepreneur-investment format associated with Dragon's Den. In the United States, the investors are called Sharks rather than Dragons, but the basic structure remains familiar: entrepreneurs pitch businesses, request capital and offer an ownership stake.

The American series premiered in 2009. It developed its own panel, presentation style and business culture, so it should not be treated as a renamed British programme. The two shows share a format lineage but have separate national productions.

The title is also sometimes confused with Money Tigers, the Japanese programme that originated the format. Money Tigers is the Japanese source programme; Shark Tank is the United States adaptation.
