Who plays the role of Adonis Creed in the Creed films?

Michael B. Jordan plays Adonis Creed in the Creed films. Adonis “Donnie” Creed is the son of former heavyweight champion Apollo Creed and becomes the central boxer of the sequel series to the Rocky films.

Jordan portrays Adonis in Creed (2015), Creed II (2018), and Creed III (2023). In the story, Adonis was born Adonis Johnson and spent part of his childhood in foster care before being adopted by Mary Anne Creed, Apollo’s widow. Although he grows up with financial security, he abandons a stable career to pursue professional boxing and establish an identity beyond his father’s legacy.

Adonis travels to Philadelphia and asks Rocky Balboa to train him. That connection links the new films to the original Rocky saga while allowing Adonis to develop his own style, family, and ambitions. Ryan Coogler created the character and directed the first Creed, but he does not play Adonis; Jordan is the actor who portrays him. Tessa Thompson plays Bianca, Adonis’s partner.
