Who composed the musical score for the 2015 film Creed? Ludwig Göransson.
Swedish composer Ludwig Göransson wrote the score for Creed, Ryan Coogler's 2015 continuation of the Rocky story. The film marked Göransson's second feature-length collaboration with Coogler, following Fruitvale Station, and helped establish a modern musical identity for the series.
Göransson blended orchestral writing with contemporary hip-hop and electronic textures, reflecting Adonis Creed's Philadelphia upbringing and his effort to step out of Apollo Creed's shadow. The score also acknowledges Rocky's musical heritage: “You're a Creed” incorporates material associated with Bill Conti's classic Rocky themes.
The score is sometimes confused with the film's broader soundtrack, which includes songs by artists such as Meek Mill, Future, and Jhené Aiko. Those songs are separate from the original dramatic score. Bill Conti composed much of the music for the earlier Rocky films, but he was not Creed's principal score composer. Göransson later became widely known for work including Black Panther and Oppenheimer.
