Who plays Andy Bernard?

Ed Helms plays Andy Bernard in the American version of The Office. Andy is introduced in the third season as a salesman transferred from Dunder Mifflin’s Stamford branch to Scranton.

Helms was already known for The Daily Show when he joined The Office in 2006. Andy was initially intended to be a temporary character, but the writers expanded his role after developing his abrasive personality, Cornell obsession, anger-management problems, and love of a cappella music.

Andy later becomes Scranton’s regional manager after Michael Scott leaves, although his management tenure is disrupted by Nellie Bertram and Robert California. A common mix-up is confusing the actor with B.J. Novak, who plays Ryan Howard, or Craig Robinson, who plays warehouse manager Darryl Philbin. Helms also played Stu in The Hangover films, but Andy Bernard remains one of his defining television roles.
