Who played the villain Jaws in the James Bond films The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker?

The story behind the answer

Richard Kiel played the steel-toothed villain Jaws in The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker.

Kiel’s character is one of the most recognizable recurring opponents in the Bond films. Jaws is exceptionally tall and has metal teeth, which he uses as a weapon. He first appears as an antagonist employed by Karl Stromberg in The Spy Who Loved Me, released in 1977.

Jaws returned in Moonraker in 1979. Although he initially works against Bond again, the character eventually turns away from the villain Hugo Drax after falling in love with Dolly. That change made Jaws unusual among major Bond antagonists: he survived two films and ended one of them as an ally.

Richard Kiel stood 7 feet 2 inches tall. The character is sometimes confused with other physically imposing Bond villains, such as Oddjob, but Oddjob is the silent henchman in Goldfinger and is played by Harold Sakata.
