Which James Bond film was based on Ian Fleming’s final completed novel?
Answer
The Man with the Golden Gun
Answer
The Man with the Golden Gun
The Man with the Golden Gun was based on Ian Fleming’s final completed Bond novel.
Fleming’s novel The Man with the Golden Gun was published posthumously in 1965, one year after his death. The film adaptation arrived in 1974 as Roger Moore’s second appearance as James Bond and was directed by Guy Hamilton.
Christopher Lee played assassin Francisco Scaramanga, whose golden gun gives the story its title. The movie also features Britt Ekland as Mary Goodnight and Hervé Villechaize as Nick Nack. Its plot differs substantially from Fleming’s book, especially in the presentation of Scaramanga and Bond’s supposed brainwashing.
Octopussy is another posthumously published Fleming collection, but it was not his final completed novel. The film Octopussy combined material from that collection with “The Property of a Lady” and original screenwriting.
