Who played the role of Jim Halpert in The Office US?

The story behind the answer

John Krasinski played Jim Halpert in the U.S. version of The Office. Jim is introduced as a sales representative at Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch, where his dry humor and elaborate pranks on Dwight Schrute quickly make him one of the show’s central characters.

Krasinski joined the NBC sitcom at the beginning of its run in 2005 and appeared in every episode. His performance helped define Jim as an observant, seemingly unmotivated office worker who gradually becomes more ambitious. Jim’s relationship with receptionist Pam Beesly, played by Jenna Fischer, became the series’ main romantic storyline.

A common mix-up is confusing Krasinski with Rainn Wilson, who played Dwight, or Steve Carell, who played regional manager Michael Scott. Krasinski also directed several episodes and later became widely known for co-writing, directing, and starring in A Quiet Place. Jim’s British counterpart is Tim Canterbury, played by Martin Freeman.
