Who played Barnabas Collins in Tim Burton’s 2012 film Dark Shadows?
Answer
Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp played Barnabas Collins in Tim Burton’s 2012 film Dark Shadows.
Barnabas is a wealthy 18th-century vampire who is released from his coffin in 1972 after spending nearly two centuries imprisoned by the witch Angelique Bouchard. He returns to Collinwood and finds that his family and business empire have changed dramatically.
The film is based on the gothic daytime television soap opera Dark Shadows, created by Dan Curtis. The original series ran from 1966 to 1971 and included vampires, witches, ghosts, and other supernatural storylines.
Eva Green plays Angelique, Michelle Pfeiffer plays Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, and Helena Bonham Carter plays Dr. Julia Hoffman. Burton’s film combines period flashbacks with 1970s music, fashion, and comedy rather than reproducing the original series episode by episode.
