In Tim Burton’s 1992 film Batman Returns, Michelle Pfeiffer plays Selina Kyle before she becomes Catwoman.
Selina Kyle begins the film as the secretary of corrupt businessman Max Shreck. After discovering Shreck’s criminal plans, she is pushed from a high-rise window and presumed dead. She later returns to Gotham City as Catwoman, adopting a stitched black costume and a volatile new identity.
Pfeiffer’s performance became one of the most celebrated portrayals of Catwoman. Her version combines Selina’s loneliness and insecurity with Catwoman’s theatrical confidence, creating a character who is both an adversary and a possible romantic match for Batman.
