Who managed Hull City in their 2–0 Premier League win over Manchester United in August 2026?

Sergej Jakirovic managed Hull City in their 2–0 Premier League win over Manchester United in August 2026.

The match was Jakirovic’s first Premier League victory with Hull after the club returned to the top flight. Goals from Semi Ajayi and Nobel Mendy secured the result at the MKM Stadium.

The victory also gave Jakirovic a distinctive place in Premier League history: he became the first Bosnian manager to win a Premier League match. That detail is easy to miss because the match is more commonly remembered as Hull’s upset of Manchester United.

Manchester United were managed by Michael Carrick in the game. Other opening-weekend managers included Gary O’Neil at Ipswich Town and Frank Lampard at Coventry City, which makes those names plausible but incorrect alternatives.
