Who is the main antagonist in Toy Story 2?

The main antagonist in Toy Story 2 is Stinky Pete, also known as the Prospector.

Stinky Pete is an unopened prospector doll from the fictional television series Woody's Roundup. He is discovered inside a toy store box by Al McWhiggin, who plans to send the entire Woody's Roundup collection to a museum in Japan. Unlike the friendly toys Woody knows, Stinky Pete is bitter, manipulative, and determined to prevent Woody from returning to Andy.

His resentment comes from the cancellation of Woody's Roundup after the launch of Sputnik shifted children's interest toward space toys. He blames toys such as Buzz Lightyear and believes museum display is preferable to being owned by a child. He secretly sabotages Woody's escape and frames Jessie for the trouble.

Al is the human who drives the kidnapping plot, but Stinky Pete is the story's hidden villain and the character who directly betrays Woody. Zurg, while memorable, is mainly part of Buzz's fictional backstory and is not the film's principal antagonist.
