Who is the director and concept lead credited for Pokémon Pokopia?

Shigeru Ohmori is credited as the concept and senior director of Pokémon Pokopia.

Ohmori conceived Pokopia while working on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. He reflected on his early work as a map designer on Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire and considered how appealing it would be for players to create Pokémon habitats of their own.

The game's focus on shaping landscapes, attracting Pokémon, and cultivating communities grew from that idea. Although Takuto Edagawa served as chief director for Omega Force, Ohmori remained the project's concept and senior director, making his role distinct from the other directing credits.

This history explains why Pokopia feels different from battle-focused Pokémon games. Its central design question was not simply how trainers defeat opponents, but how players can build places where Pokémon can live and interact.
