Pokémon Pokopia received a Famitsu score of 39 out of 40 at the time of its release. Famitsu's review score is the combined total from four critics, each of whom awards a mark out of 10.
Three of the four Famitsu reviewers gave Pokopia a perfect 10. The remaining score was 9, producing the near-perfect total of 39. This made the Japanese review an especially notable part of the game's positive critical reception.
The Famitsu result should not be confused with a Metacritic score or with an individual reviewer's mark. Metacritic aggregates scores from many publications, whereas the Famitsu total comes from four named review scores within one publication.
Pokopia was also described as the highest-rated Pokémon game on Metacritic at the time reported in the game's reception coverage. Those are separate measurements: 39 out of 40 belongs to Famitsu, while Metacritic uses its own aggregate scale.
