Who is the character who says 'False' frequently?

The story behind the answer

Dwight Schrute is the character who frequently says “False” in The Office.

Dwight uses the word as a blunt correction whenever he believes another character has stated something inaccurate, foolish, or insufficiently authoritative. His habit fits his personality: he treats office conversations like contests in discipline, hierarchy, and factual superiority, even when his own claims are bizarre or unsupported.

Portrayed by Rainn Wilson, Dwight is a salesman at Dunder Mifflin Scranton who spends much of the series trying to become regional manager. He is intensely loyal to the company, obsessed with emergency preparedness, and proud of his family’s beet farm, Schrute Farms. His strange confidence makes “False” funny because he delivers it with complete certainty.

The phrase is most strongly associated with Dwight, although other characters occasionally contradict people in their own ways. It should not be confused with Dwight’s recurring title, “Assistant to the Regional Manager,” which he insists is more important than Jim Halpert’s deliberately diminished “Assistant Regional Manager” role. Dwight eventually becomes regional manager in the ninth and final season.
