Who is Mickey Mouse's pet dog?
Answer
Pluto
Answer
Pluto
Mickey Mouse’s pet dog is Pluto.
Pluto is a yellow-orange, short-haired dog who is usually portrayed as Mickey’s loyal companion. Unlike many major Disney animal characters, Pluto generally does not speak or wear human clothing; his personality is expressed through movement, facial expressions, and comic reactions. That makes him distinct from Goofy, another famous Disney dog who is anthropomorphic and speaks.
The character began as an unnamed bloodhound in the 1930 Mickey Mouse cartoon The Chain Gang. He appeared as Minnie Mouse’s dog, called Rover, in The Picnic later that year. In The Moose Hunt, released in 1931, he became Mickey’s pet and received the name Pluto. The name is sometimes linked to the newly named planet, although the precise reason remains uncertain.
Pluto later headlined his own series of theatrical shorts, beginning with Pluto’s Quin-puplets in 1937. He is therefore more than a supporting pet: Pluto became one of the central stars of the Mickey Mouse universe. Pete is an antagonist, Donald is Mickey’s friend, and Goofy is a separate character—not Mickey’s pet dog.
