Who voiced Mickey Mouse for the longest period (1977-2009)?
Answer
Wayne Allwine
Answer
Wayne Allwine
Wayne Allwine voiced Mickey Mouse for the longest period, from 1977 until 2009.
Allwine became Mickey’s third official voice after Walt Disney and Jimmy MacDonald. He joined the role in 1977, first recording Mickey for animated segments of The New Mickey Mouse Club. His first theatrical appearance as Mickey came in the 1983 short Mickey’s Christmas Carol.
Although Allwine died in 2009, some productions released afterward still used recordings he had made earlier. Bret Iwan then became the official voice of Mickey. A common mix-up is confusing the longest-serving performer with the character’s original voice: Walt Disney voiced Mickey from 1928, but Allwine held the role for about 32 years.
